About us – TU Berlin's alumni program

© PR/TU Berlin

TU Berlin established a dedicated point of contact for graduates a few decades ago, making us a pioneer in alumni relations in Germany. Over the years, around 30,000 people have joined the TU alumni program and about 1,500 more sign up every year. This makes our program one of the largest at any German university. The importance of alumni relations at TU Berlin is underscored by the fact that we report directly to the President of the university.

Who are we there for?

The TU alumni program welcomes all interested former students and researchers, as well as former staff from the offices, workshops and laboratories and visiting researchers. Our doors are open to anyone who has studied, worked or conducted research at our university – regardless of when, where or in what capacity.
Are you looking for former classmates? Or are you perhaps interested in further training or getting some careers advice in your field? Maybe you're wanting to work with TU researchers, or simply to go to an interesting talk and then chat to your old university professors at a reception afterwards? If your answer to any of these is "yes!" then the alumni team is the right point of contact for you.

What can we offer you?

The services we provide to our alumni are as diverse as the alumni themselves. There are alumni clubs in 10 countries with more than 1,200 members. And we have contact with around 900 alumni entrepreneurs in Germany and 400 companies run by graduates abroad. In cooperation with partner universities and the TU alumni clubs, we organize seminars and summer schools in Berlin and abroad for students and alumni, with about 500 people taking part every year.
We are supported by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises. In the last five years alone, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has funded 19 seminars in Asia, the Middle East/North Africa, Latin America and Berlin. And we have other cooperation partners at TU Berlin itself. In collaboration with the Career Service, we provide a mentoring program for students, who really benefit from our graduates' guidance when starting their careers. Lots of alumni still have contact with their former lecturers. Berlin companies also get involved in the seminars, contributing their knowledge of how things work in practice.
We also foster our alumni's engagement with the university. For example, we help find graduates to give talks or take on a teaching role. We support projects that encourage alumni to donate to the university, and we also help establish useful business and research contacts.
We see our alumni as "ambassadors of TU Berlin", both at home and abroad, and as partners of the university. Our focus is on creating synergies that benefit both sides.
