Dear Alumni, dear Guest Scientists,

I am very pleased to be able to bring to you another issue of Newsflash.

Once again, much has been happening at the university, where you studied, researched or taught. The internationalisation process has been proceeding apace: in 2012, according to a study of the international character of teaching and learning carried out by the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD) and the German Centre for Academic and Science Studies (Deutsches Zentrum für Hochschul- und Wissenschaftsforschung – DZHW), TU Berlin was Germany's leading university with regard to the number of guest scientists. With 926 scientists from abroad, TU Berlin was Germany's most popular host university. Conversely, 287 of our own scientists spent a research period abroad. Between 2009 and 2013, TU Berlin occupied the eighth position among all German universities with regard to the number of Humboldt Fellows; apart from Technische Universität München (TUM), TU Berlin was the only institute of technology among the top-ten universities...

In June 2014, the scientific research institution Matheon was relaunched as as 'ECMath', the new Einstein Center for Mathematics Berlin

 

Third-Party Funds Again at Record High

In 2013, TU Berlin scientists attracted a total of 174 million euros in third-party funds. This is an increase on the sum for 2012 (up by 9.5 per cent from 159.6 million euros) and, in a five-year comparison, for 2008 (up by 76.2 per cent from 98.7 million euros)
