Dear Sir or Madam, dear Alumni,


The new Executive Board of Technische Universität Berlin has been in office since 1 April 2014. Professor EngD Christine Ahrend, Professor Dr Hans-Ulrich Heiß, Professor Dr Angela Ittel, our long-standing Chancellor Professor Dr Ulrike Gutheil, and I gladly undertake the task of leading our university in a manner that is responsible and open to innovation. In what follows, I would like to take the opportunity to introduce to our international alumni and our partners abroad some of our work's future focal points.
We wish to remain attractive for students with regard to teaching. New learning methods and an intensified exchange between students and teachers are important elements in this connection. We will provide easier access to university education and, thus, give as many young people as possible the opportunity to fulfil their dream to study. I am convinced that support for the right to education must have the highest priority in our political actions. In order to achieve this goal we have already abolished the numerus clausus for eight courses of study starting in the winter semester of 2014/15. Altogether 32 per cent of all courses of study will then have free admission...
